High-quality, affordable education for Georgia’s children from Cradle to Career
We know that education is a key to economic mobility and future success. Georgia’s economic growth is closely linked to the success of our children, who deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of their zip code or their family’s salary. As the state’s ‘Public Education Governor,’ Stacey is committed to investing in addressing the needs of the whole child from cradle to career starting with high-quality, affordable childcare and pre-kindergarten programs, continuing through fully-funded public schools, and on to post-secondary opportunities that will lead to a lifetime of success.
As Governor, Stacey will:
- Make a historic investment in affordable, high-quality child care for all families through the Bold Start Scholarship Program
- Fully fund our public schools and protect them from privatization
- Give educators the tools they need, empower parents, and respect the diverse needs of our students
- Prioritize safe schools, wraparound support, and child mental-health services
- Strengthen pathways to debt-free graduation at every skill level through expanded HOPE, tuition-free technical college, need-based financial aid, and additional programs
- Build opportunities for youth civic engagement and summer employment with the establishment of the Governor’s Youth Council
Stacey’s Record:
- Saved universal pre-K for four-year-olds from devastating cuts in 2011
- Partnered with educators to fight against efforts to hand public schools over to private interests and away from parents and teachers
- Preserved the HOPE scholarship program by preventing requirements that would have disproportionately harmed low-income students and students of color
- Endorsed by the Georgia Association of Educators
