Ensuring that Georgia seniors and Georgians with disabilities have the support they need to thrive and live with dignity
Stacey Abrams believes that Georgia bears a special responsibility to our seniors and citizens with disabilities. A truly inclusive Georgia is one where all our Georgians can meet their healthcare needs, age in place, and easily access transport to get where they need to go. Stacey is committed to ensuring that our seniors and Georgians with disabilities can not only thrive in our communities, but also access the same resources and quality of life as any other Georgians.
As Governor, Stacey will:
- Strengthen the state’s commitment to the Aging and Disability Resource Centers and home and community-based services
- Increase access to transportation
- Support caregivers and promote Alzheimer’s research and awareness
- Support Employment First strategies for Georgians with disabilities who want to work
- Prioritize inclusive educational supports and opportunities from cradle to career
Stacey’s Record:
- As a consultant, advised the Tommy Nobis Center on ways to expand opportunities for full-employment for the disabled
- As House Democratic Leader, successfully fought against efforts to apply sales tax to groceries
- Co-sponsored legislation to better support grandparents raising grandchildren
- Co-sponsored legislation to combat elder abuse
