AAPI Community

I am committed to creating One Georgia where the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community can thrive. I have a plan to increase healthcare access and keep more hospitals open, while also providing tax rebates and supporting first-time business owners by waiving business start-up costs through the Entrepreneurship Learner’s Permit.

My plan will also enhance protections for civil and human rights in housing, employment and public accommodations and reduce maternal mortality, support safe pregnancies and defend reproductive freedom.

Economic Security and Education

  • Put money back in your pocket.
    • Tax rebates for everyone making less than $250,000
    • Crack down on employers who wrongly classify employees as independent contractors or commit wage theft
    • Create a Georgia Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to help 1 million+ working Georgians keep more of what they earn and reinvest in themselves
  • Expand educational opportunity without impacting Georgia families’ bottom line.
    • Increase the supply of high quality child care and achieve universal Pre-K
    • Expand college advising by investing in high school college counselors
    • Maintain the HOPE Scholarship, restore tuition-free technical college to all Georgians and add funding for need-based aid for higher education
    • Create 20,000 apprenticeships across fields including healthcare, coding and construction
    • Increase recruitment and retention of AAPI educators in Georgia classrooms
  • Provide capital and contract opportunities for small businesses.
    • Establish a $10 million Small Business Investment Fund for access to capital
    • Support first-time business owners with education, training and waiving business start-up costs through the Entrepreneurship Learner’s Permit
    • Increase purchasing from minority-owned businesses by state entities
    • Allow small companies to jointly bid on state contracts as prime contractor
    • Ensure licensing and training materials are in multiple languages

Healthcare, Housing and Safety

  • Increase access to affordable and accessible healthcare.
    • Increase healthcare access to 500,000 Georgians and keep more hospitals open while lowering the cost of care for all by expanding Medicaid
    • Help Georgia seniors who may not yet qualify for Medicare to see a health care provider without fear of medical debt
    • Defend reproductive freedom, privacy and access to abortion
    • Deprioritize abortion-related prosecutions
    • Reduce maternal mortality, support safe pregnancies and promote equal access to family planning
  • Expand access to safe and affordable housing in Georgia.
    • Provide first-time homeowners with increased funding support and financial education
    • Make housing more affordable for everyone
  • Keep our communities safe by pursuing common sense gun reforms.
    • Repeal the criminal carry bill signed by Kemp that made it easier for dangerous people to carry concealed weapons
    • Repeal campus carry, “guns everywhere” and gun return laws that endanger the public and are opposed by a majority of Georgians
    • Close the Gun Show Loophole

Civil Rights and Immigration

  • Ensure immigrants, women, people of color and people with disabilities serve on the Board of Regents, the body that oversees Georgia’s universities
  • Enhance protections for civil and human rights in housing, employment and public accommodations
  • Work with law enforcement to improve communications and relations with immigrant communities, including expanded language proficiency
