Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams Selected for The Root 100 List

Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams made her debut appearance on The Root 100 List at #11. The Root 100 is an annual listing of the most influential African Americans who made a significant impact in Black news and culture over the last year.

“I am honored to be selected by The Root and to be included with such preeminent and established thought leaders across the country,” said Rep. Abrams.

Rep. Abrams is acknowledged for her voting registration efforts with the New Georgia Project, along with serving as the first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly and the first African American to lead the Georgia House of Representatives.

Ben Jealous, who topped The Root 100 list in 2013 adds, “As a close colleague and friend, I am delighted for Stacey to be recognized by The Root 100. This prestigious honor highlights her commitment to the advancement of important societal issues like voter registration, particularly among communities of color and working class families. She is truly fearless and a trailblazer in the political community.”

Two other Georgians were selected this year: Will Packer and Rob Hardy. Both are movie producers who made a significant impact in the entertainment industry.
