Stacey as Policy Leader

From the time she joined the Georgia General Assembly in 2006, Stacey has been an advocate for common-sense legislation to improve opportunity for all Georgians.

Armed with a belief that every problem has a sensible solution and a bipartisan approach, Stacey has championed fair and pragmatic policies to make it easier for Georgians to obtain an education, find and keep quality jobs and raise their families.

As House Minority Leader, Stacey has worked across the aisle to help expand the HOPE Scholarship, protect the elderly, and improve our public school system. She has stood against extreme legislation to limit Georgians’ access to affordable healthcare, infringe on women’s rights and raise taxes on working families.

Stacey has led the House Democratic Caucus to advance a party platform grounded in the inherently Georgian values of educational opportunity, economic security and shared responsibility; and she looks forward to continuing—with your support—to build a better future for our state.

Stacey as a Business Leader

Stacey began her career as a tax attorney at the Sutherland Asbill & Brennan law firm in Atlanta, with a focus on tax-exempt organizations, healthcare and public finance. She then led the largest division of the City of Atlanta Law Department, managing a multi-million dollar budget and more than 20 attorneys and paralegals. Stacey has also developed a strong entrepreneurial record, having founded and co-founded several successful companies.

She is the co-founder and Senior Vice President of NOWaccount Network Corporation, a financial services firm which specializes in assisting small businesses. She is the co-owner of Nourish, Inc, a beverage company with a focus on infants and toddlers. She started Sage Works, LLC, a legal and business consulting firm, and Insomnia Consulting, which specialized in development, investment, and consulting for complex and innovative infrastructure projects.

A lifelong love of writing led Stacey to publish articles on issues of public policy, taxation and nonprofit organizations. Stacey also moonlights as a novelist, writing romantic suspense novels under the name Selena Montgomery.

As a business owner, writer, and legislator, Stacey is an innovative business leader who understands the obligation to be both business-friendly and a friend of labor. She has received A-ratings from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the legislative leadership award from the Georgia AFL-CIO.
